Shakespeare Show
On Monday evening, 34 of our Year 4 children took to the stage to perform Romeo and Juliet to an audience of hundreds at Northern Stage. They were absolutely amazing! The children acted, danced and narrated the story brilliantly. Just imagine how brave you have to be to stand under the spotlight and deliver your lines to such a huge audience. I was honestly blown away by their courage, enthusiasm and talent. They truly demonstrated our school vision: “At Grange we want our children to be happy, confident learners determined to be the best they can be.” Now for some very important thank yous! Mrs Rose did a wonderful job sewing sashes onto T-shirts and making additional cloaks for the performance. Miss Willans did a fantastic job organising the ticket sales. Mrs Wilkinson and Mrs Nicholson… where do I start? They have given up so much of their own time to put this performance together. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you also to all the adults who helped their children learn their lines and who came along to support the performance on the night. But most importantly of all—thank you to the children who worked incredibly hard and did such a brilliant job. We are all so proud of you.
Year 3 in about nine months’ time it will be your turn to decide whether you would like to sign up for Shakespeare Club. I can’t wait to see who will tread the boards in 2027!
PTFA
Taylor Swift Night Our Taylor Swift Night was an absolutely brilliant evening and raised over £1,250 for the school. Both children and adults had a fantastic time and we are already talking about what kind of event we might organise next!
Our next event is the Spring Fun Day & Scavenger Hunt on Saturday 28th March from 11am-1pm. You do need to buy a ticket in advance for this event as each child gets to take part in the scavenger hunt and will receive a prize. We will also have craft stalls, samosas, drinks, hot dogs, games, pocket money stall and a tombola - it will be a fun day. We do need a minimum take up for this event to be able to run it so please buy your tickets as soon as possible via this link: https://www.pta-events.co.uk/grangefirstschool/index.cfm?event=event&eventId=113875
Bunny Bounce We are also busy planning the Bunny Bounce, which will take place on Friday 27th March. Each year, every child from Nursery to Year 4 has the chance to bounce on a bouncy castle for one minute during the school day while the PTFA count how many bounces they can do! Children can be sponsored either per bounce or with a total amount. Sponsor forms will be sent home this week and there will also be an online donation link. We will send the link out as soon as we receive it. We are still looking for volunteers to help on the day. If you are able to support, please contact us at grangefirstparents@outlook.com or leave a message at the school office.
Pre-Loved Uniform Stall Finally, we will be running our pre-loved uniform stall during parents’ evenings next week. If you have any unwanted uniform that is clean and in good condition, please bring it to the office by Monday morning. During the parents’ evenings, families are welcome to take whatever they need from the table. Donations are welcome but not necessary.
OPAL
Our team of OPAL Cadets have done a fabulous job over the last two terms, supporting the rest of the school during OPAL playtimes and helping to organise new resources in our outdoor play areas. Thank you all for your hard work and enthusiasm. On Monday, our new OPAL Cadets will be taking up their roles. Keep an eye on next week’s newsletter to find out who they are! Our OPAL Play Team of adults have also been busy this week transforming our pallet houses. They have created a spring house, a school, a library, a superhero headquarters and a block-building hut for the children to enjoy. We can’t wait to see all the imaginative play that happens in these spaces!
