Mod News
Highlights and statements
Welcome to the second edition of the Ninja Scrolls! The official MOD RUN paper.
Your monthly source for news from the mods.
Plenty of things have been happening in the land of Seichi since the last paper. For this month I would like to congratulate Branks and Rx on their graduation from Jr Mod to Mod!
I would also like to introduce you to our next Jr Mod candidates. This month we have added LittleGirl, Kieto and Celestina who will be working towards being our next additions to our mod team and have begun their training.
I would also like to take this time to explain the process a mod goes through before becoming a mod as it has changed since last fall where mods were essentially just thrown into the fire with nothing but a bucket of water.
Step 1 for potential mods is to be made "jrMod" on the discord for 1-2 weeks. This allows them to see how mods handle issues, receive training, and potentially help with any situations that arise on discord.
Step 2 the mod in training now has access to TNR itself and receives the in game JrMod role. At this point they can begin handling situations on the site, but check in with experienced mods while doing so. This gives them some first hand experience and allows them to become familiar with how to action situations.
Step 3 the new mod is now a full mod and can begin handling situations in a full mod capacity!
In other news, we also have some more on site changes that recently were implemented in relation to moderation. To improve transparency, a player's profile will now show if they are actively banned, silenced or in good standing. It will not show the length or reason, just whether the status of the user in question.
We have been going through the results of the previous survey, and while these updates haven't occurred as quick as we would hope we are working hard to continuously improve TNR.

Internet safety- Blacklist and Block
Internet safety is incredibly important, especially in this day and age where so many people live a good portion of their life online. Not just on TNR, but on their instagram or facebook and on tiktok, and other gaming platforms. It's easy to forget who could be on the other side of the computer screen viewing the content that you put out, whether in the form of social media posts or chatting with others online. It is important to be careful of what information you share, and to never give out your name, address, personal social media or other identifying information to others casually online.
Thankfully social media and games such as TNR have tools that can be used to help decrease unwanted interactions with other people. As was covered in December 2024's issue of the Seichi Scrolls, TNR has the blacklist feature that can be accessed using an icon to the top right of the tavern. Accounts added to that list cannot see anything the user posts or contact them, in addition the user who has added them cannot see the posts of the person they have blacklisted. This stops the undesirable user from interacting with the person who has blacklisted them in any capacity aside from normal gameplay. If a user purposely evades the blacklist through the use of an alt then that would be grounds for official action to be taken against them. It's important to note that mods cannot be added to a blacklist.
Since TNR is a social community, has a discord server, as well as many unofficial discord servers it is also good to know that discord also has a block feature! This prevents the undesirable user from messaging the person and blocks their messages in the servers (however it does give the option for the person who has blocked the user to open and view blocked messages). If there is someone that is making you uncomfortable or you just don't like, it is suggested to take both of these actions to prevent anything further from happening. If you feel uncomfortable in a discord server, speak to the discord owner or the mods of that server, or leave the server. Preventing unwanted interactions is the first and most important step a user can take in their own internet safety.
But why should people do this? Aren't mods supposed to protect us from people we don't like?
While mods can help to intervene in official spaces, or handle situations in game or the TNR official discord, mods cannot be in every discord server and view every channel and therefore cannot be responsible for actions taken outside of official spaces. Context can be key and without it mods are putting together a 10000 piece puzzle from a second hand store, with half of the pieces missing and an unknown portion of those don't even belong to the same puzzle on the box. For all mods know, the majority of the pieces are from a completely different puzzle.
On TNR it is easier as the report function not only reliably captures the offending post, but also messages leading up to it to help with the situation. It removes the messiness of screenshots and potential photoshopping, cropping, or other potential ways to fake them, and gives mods something reliable to begin working with.
This is why taking steps to protect yourself matters. Blocking/blacklisting helps send the message that you do not want to interact with an individual. It decreases the chance of an uncomfortable situation getting worse, and sets a clear boundary not to be crossed. It is much easier for all parties to prevent a situation than to deal with one once is has gotten worse. It is not a magic solve all solution, but it is an important feature to allow you to enjoy online spaces.
Monthly Game Tips with Branks:
Have you every went to a player's profile and suddenly got blasted with music that we weren't expecting? Nindos are players way to showcase their artistic side but sometimes our ear drums don't need to be blown out. I am here to show you how you can control all nindo music even if you cannot see it. There are 2 options:
1) Once you make it to someone's profile you can press combat graph and you will no longer hear anyone's music.
2) If you go to someone's profile and they have a youtube video embedded, you can actually change the volume to whatever you desire. This will translate to any nindos that have music across the whole game! If you go to Branks profile I have posted a older song called Imagine. If youre unfamilar with it i suggest you take a listen and enjoy the message. You can use this account to change volume for all nindos while also discovering others music 🙂
Village Features- Call out!
For the mod newspaper we would like to include one article about each village and would like a player from each village to contribute! Articles will be due by the last day of each month, and must be sent either directly to teni, or a mod. If you are interested in writing your village please reach out! I received a couple articles for the first edition but I am still looking for contributors!
Article Guidelines:
- Under 1000 words
- Follow TNR rules and ToS
- Must be a unique contribution written for The Ninja Scrolls
- May be RP based, a general article about the village (hottest eats in Glacier!), a village event (festivals, a high profile marriage, a raiding event), or general politics (who is warring who this month?), let your creativity guide you!
- One to two articles per village

Shine Spotlight
A New Dawn Amidst Dark Times
By: MaV
Shine Village stands resilient as it faces one of its toughest challenges yet. Dark times have cast their shadows, testing the will and unity of its people. Yet, the spirit of Shine burns brighter than ever, as its villagers work tirelessly to uphold the village’s geopolitical strength in Seichi.
Though we have lost a few who chose the path of the outlaw, Shine remains steadfast, welcoming new leadership to guide us forward. Gooby steps into the role of Kage, ready to lead Shine through these turbulent times. Supporting this new era, Dizzy, MaV, and AngelSaber have joined as Junior Council, bringing fresh perspectives and unwavering dedication.
From the shadows, Keito rises as Shine’s new Anbu leader, silently watching over the village and ensuring its safety from unseen threats. On the front lines, Nyssa, Sinlaw, Avaeris, Oda, and DRkage have stepped up, proving their strength and commitment as they push forward in battle.
Meanwhile, LoD and Hulk stand as The Wall of Shine, ready to defend against any threat that dares approach our village. Their strength and resilience will be the shield that keeps Shine safe as we navigate these uncertain times.
Our esteemed elders, Delorin, Ryo, and Sakuna, continue to protect Shine from any war threats that may arise. Their wisdom and experience will guide our Kage and leadership, ensuring that Shine moves towards a brighter future.
Additionally, our retired warriors, Jojo and Moltres, have stepped forward to stand alongside Shine’s people. Even in retirement, their dedication remains unwavering as they work side by side with the village, ensuring the safety of all during times of war.
The road ahead will not be easy, but Shine has always been a village of warriors, survivors, and dreamers. Together, we will forge a path through the darkness and emerge stronger than ever.
For Shine, for Seichi!
