Nine Teams Recognized for Perfect NCAA Academic Performance Rate

Nine of Drexel's varsity athletic teams scored a perfect 1000 on the NCAA Academic Performance Rate, including women’s basketball, golf, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis and wrestling. Drexel also had four teams score a 1000 multi-year rate, including women's swimming and diving, men's and women’s tennis and wrestling. In total, 10 Drexel teams are at or above the four-year national average.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.

313 Dragons Named to CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll

A total of 313 Drexel student-athletes were named to the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll during the 2022-23 academic year. That total included 279 individuals recognized during the fall and 274 honored during the spring. Student-athletes on the commissioner's Academic Honor Roll must have participated in a CAA sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade point average of 3.0 during the designated academic term and have been enrolled as a full-time student.

Eight Drexel Teams Achieve 100 Percent NCAA Graduation Success Rate

Eight of Drexel's varsity athletic teams scored 100 percent on the latest Graduation Success Rate announced by the NCAA, including women’s basketball, field hockey, golf, women’s soccer, women’s squash, women’s swimming and diving and men’s and women’s tennis. It is the third straight year that Drexel had at least seven teams accomplish the feat. Overall, Drexel Athletics scored 93 percent on the GSR. The GSR is a measure that the NCAA uses to evaluate academic performance.

Karson Harris ’21 Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

Two-time All-American and 2021 CAA Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Year Karson Harris was was awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. She completed her undergraduate degree in Health Sciences with a 3.96 GPA and is currently pursuing her doctorate in physical therapy at the University of North Carolina.

Harris helped lead DU to the program’s first-ever NCAA tournament appearance in 2021 and its first CAA title in 2022. She won the Mary Semanik Award and was the CAA nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year. She graduated as the Dragons’ all-time leader in goals with 211 and draw controls with 351 and is second in career points with 263.

The one-time, non-renewable scholarships of $10,000 are awarded three times a year corresponding to each sport season. All former student-athletes who earned an undergraduate degree from an NCAA member school are eligible to be nominated by that school for an NCAA graduate degree scholarship.

Dragons Earn Academic All-America Honors

Two Dragons earned the ultimate academic distinction, as Keishana Washington (women’s basketball) was recognized as a Second Team Academic All-American and Daniel Dudockin (men’s tennis) was named to the Academic All-America Third Team.

Keishana, Matias Knudsen, Natalie Cleri (women’s rowing) and Alina Bushma (women’s squash) were also selected as Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Performers of the Year.

Dragons Receive CAA Team Academic Excellence Awards

Three Drexel teams have been named the recipients of the Colonial Athletic Association Team Academic Excellence Awards for the 2022-23 academic year. The women's basketball team, the men's tennis team and the golf team were all honored for their work in the classroom.
