Recreational Athletics Provides Platform for Health and Wellness

Campus Recreation once again served as a central point for Drexel students and the greater community. 12,748 unique visitors participated in some form of recreational activity this past year, including more than 10,000 students and 904 new active community members. In total, more than 574,117 impressions were logged across our facilities, including an impressive 2,537 guest pass recipients.

In addition, over 1,000 Club Sport student-athletes participated across 33 club sport teams and over 1,200 students competed as members in 14 different intramural sports.

Safety remains a priority as collaboration with Drexel University Police, Public Safety, University Facilities and Athletic Facilities began to restructure building access for all patrons to increase safety for our staff and members.

New strength and cardio equipment as well as updated layouts for the Fitness Areas in the Recreation Center are on their way in September 2023.

Recreational Athletics Host Bounce-A-Palooza

Recreational Athletics hosted Bounce-A-Palooza in conjunction with a men's soccer contest against Saint Joseph's University that saw more than 400 students attend.

Esports Team Captures Third National Title

The first time Drexel University's Counterstrike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) team in Drexel Esports won a national championship, it was like a “David versus Goliath situation” against Davenport University, according to team member and future co-captain Noah Vaknin. The third time they were playing for a national championship, they went into every game expecting to win. They stayed undefeated as a team of five and won the title.

“I’m very grateful for our CS:GO team because they did a lot of the foundational work to get us noticed by the University,” Drexel Esports Director Claire Toomey said. “Even though they’re leaving, I think Drexel Esports will continue to have fantastic talent. We've built up a strong and passionate community that isn’t just focused on winning but is focused on the entirety of esports.”

Human Resources and Recreational Athletics Host Employee Olympics

Campus Recreation welcomed the return of the annual Employee Olympics, a one-day event that targets benefits-eligible university employees and allows them to compete head-to-head with their colleagues in various activities. This year's Employee Olympics saw over 400 participants across two events.
